THE SULTAN VICTORIUS GUTTSMANN FAMILY STOLPERSTEINE CEREMONY

On August 10, 2023, nine Stolpersteine were laid for the Sultan Victorius Guttsmann family at the family's last known chosen address in cooperation with AG Spurensuche Schlachtensee. It was a beautiful commemoration ceremony that brought the community together to remember and honour victims persecuted by the National Socialists and provide much-needed communal healing and connection. Ceremonies like these are integral to our collective healing, growth and preservation of humanity.

Remembrance through their words

We chose to remember the family by telling their story in their own words through the voices of others. We wanted to share what mattered: the love, connection, and far-reaching ties that bonded them then and continue to unite the family today. Family, friends, and colleagues participated by reading these stories, bringing them to life through their voices and emotions, and sharing their time and energy with us. To honour the diversity of the family, we invited both a Cantor and a Pastor to participate in the ceremony, share what felt right for them, and speak from their hearts and perspectives. At the end of the ceremony, everyone who came was included in the conclusion of the moment created and offered a rose to put down around the Stolpersteine.

We are thankful for AG Spurensuche Schlachtensee's work and research to remember the family through the Stolpersteine, for bringing in the community, and for the beautiful humans who brought each story to life. Also, a heartfelt thank you to the two Polizei who did not just come to watch over the ceremony but participated, opened their hearts, and shared their thoughts with us.

We hope you enjoy the gallery below and experience the connection, emotion, love and commitment to humanity the incredibly talented Camilia Berrio captured through her lens. She is a gifted photographer who sees with her heart.
